3.1. What is a cookie?
A cookie or similar storage technology is a small data file or identifier that a website may place on, or read from, a visitor’s device. Cookies may support website operation, remember language preferences, measure traffic and display external media content.
3.2. Cookie categories
Necessary: security, session, cookie choices and essential operation; always active
Functional: for example, remembering the selected language; active only where necessary for operation or where the visitor has consented
Analytics: measuring traffic and website usage; off by default and subject to consent
Media/social: loading YouTube, Instagram or other external content; off by default and subject to consent
3.3. Managing consent
The cookie banner must allow visitors to accept, reject and manage non-essential cookies. Rejecting must be as easy as accepting. Non-essential technologies may not load before the visitor has made a choice. Preferences may subsequently be changed using the “Cookie Settings” link.
The names, providers, purposes and operating durations of the cookies actually used on the website must be published after a technical check at launch. The list must include only technologies that are genuinely in use.
3.4. Browser settings
Cookies may also be deleted or restricted in the browser. If necessary cookies are blocked, some website functions may not operate correctly. Browser settings do not replace the consent choices provided on the website.
